Fluorite - India

Fluorite - India

$52.00

Location: Mahodari, Sinnar, Nashik District, Maharashtra, India

Size: 2.8 x 2.5 x 0.86 inches

It is not common to see fluorite as balls in matrix but on this piece you have two on a bed of quartz crystals. Two of the sides have been cut to keep the matrix in proportion to the fluorite balls. This is a piece that I found tucked away from our move a few years ago and that I am selling at a fantastic price.

Fluorite (also called fluorspar) belongs to the halide minerals and is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. It has a hardness of 4 and in its pure form it is colorless and transparent.  It often contains impurities which makes it a very colorful mineral in many collections.   In addition to its ornamental uses
